Woman accuses BJP MLA of rape in U.P.
The Uttar Pradesh police have initiated an investigation against a BJP MLA from Unnao after a woman from the district accused him of gang-raping her along with his accomplices last June.
The case came to light after the woman, along with her family members, threatened to commit suicide outside the residence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday, alleging that the police refused to take action against the MLA despite her complaints and applications.
According to the victim, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, Bangermau MLA, raped her on June 17, 2017, and all her attempts to get justice bore no fruit as his influence prevented police from acting against him. She said that despite her efforts, the police did not register a case against the legislator.
Maharashtra: BJP leader arrested for repeatedly raping minor on pretext of marriage
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli was today arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping a minor under the pretext of marriage.
The accused Ajay Yenganti is the taluka in-charge of Sironcha tehsil in Gadchiroli district. Yenganti, also a sand contractor, is considered a close aide of minister of state for tribal development Raje Ambrishrao Atram.
The girl was married off at an early age following which she fled her in-laws’ home and took shelter at a hostel run by the mother of the accused Shakuntala Yenganti at Ankisa in Gadchiroli.
Yenganti befriended the minor and raped her on several occasions inside the hostel on the pretext of marriage. A case has been registered under section 376 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 9, 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act 2012.
“The girl ran away after she was married off by her parents at an early age. When her parents refused to accept her, she shifted to the hostel where the accused befriended her. He then lured her and repeatedly raped her by making false promises of marriage,” Tejaswini Patil, sub inspector at Gadchiroli Police station told India Today.
Maharashtra BJP leader, accused of raping woman in moving bus, arrested
aharashtra BJP leader Ravindra Bawanthade, who was accused by a woman of raping her after a video showing them kissing on a bus went viral, has been arrested.
Ravindra Bawanthade, 48, is a supervisor at a school at Nagbhid in Chandrapur district. A 19-year-old student of his school had filed a rape case against Bawanthade after CCTV footage of inside the bus went viral.
The video showed the BJP leader kissing the woman inside a Gadchiroli-bound bus and later forcing himself upon her. The incident took place on June 27.
The woman in her complaint had claimed it was the second time that Ravindra ‘raped’ her inside a vehicle. She said that the BJP leader had lured her to come with him in the bus promising her a job.
She said Ravindra had also promised to marry her.
Though there were passengers in the bus when Ravindra was busy in his act, none seemed to be aware what was happening in the vehicle.
Police said Ravindra had claimed that he was trying to attend the woman as she was not feeling well.
The BJP leader has been sent to police custody till July 6.
Gujarat BJP leader accused of raping student
Jayesh Patel, BJP leader and founder of Parul University in Vadodara, has been accused of rape and sexual harassment by a student. “We have suspended him from the party,” BJP Vadodara district president Dilubha Chudasama said.
He resigned as president of Parul University and has gone underground, fearing arrest.
Mr. Patel, 66, was previously with the Congress and had contested in the Assembly elections twice.
On Sunday, the police arrested the rector of the university’s women’s hostel, after the 22-year-old nursing student filed a complaint, alleging Mr. Patel had raped her in his residence adjacent to the hostel.
Four BJP leaders among accused in Gujarat rape case
A 24-year-old woman was gang-raped allegedly by 10 people including four local BJP leaders in Gujarat’s Kutch district. The woman was allegedly forced into prostitution by the accused, who also blackmailed her after filming the rape.
The victim named 10 people in the First Information Report (FIR). She also alleged that the accused lured many other girls and women into prostitution and exploited them sexually after promising them jobs in Naliya town of Kutch district.
On Tuesday, border range Inspector General of Police (IG) A.K. Jadeja said that four accused, including main accused Shantilal Solanki, had been arrested and the rest would be caught soon. Mr. Jadeja said the police had constituted a special investigation team (SIT) with two women officials to probe the case.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat BJP has suspended the four leaders named in the FIR — Shantilal Solanki, Govind Parumalani, Ajit Ramvani and Vasant Bhanushali.
Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja said nobody would be spared and the police had already arrested three persons named in the complaint.
FIR filed against Madhya Pradesh BJP leader for allegedly molesting, attempting to rape
Madhya Pradesh Police on Sunday registered a First Information Report against Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajendra Namdeo for allegedly molesting and attempting to rape an acid attack survivor in Bhopal, PTI reported. The party suspended the accused for six months after he was detained. He has not been arrested yet.
The state government removed him from the post of the vice chairperson of the Madhya Pradesh Rajya Silai Kala Mandal. Namdeo’s post gave him the status of a minister of state, reported PTI.
The incident took place in November 2017, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Singh Bhadauriya told PTI. “We are verifying the complaint and also looking into why she took three months to lodge it,” Bhadauriya said.
The complainant said Namdeo had called her to a hotel room near the Bhopal railway station with a false pretext. “Namdeo had called the victim to Bhopal [with the promise] of providing financial aid from the chief minister,” police officer Sudesh Tiwari told the Hindustan Times.
The BJP will take any other necessary steps against the accused only after he is proven guilty, party office secretary Satyendra Bhushan Singh told the daily. “The BJP did not spare any time in suspending Namdeo but the Congress has not taken any action against its MLA Hemant Katare who is facing rape charges,” Singh said.

A 24-year-old married woman in Naliya town of Gujarat’s Kutch district filed an FIR on January 25 accusing 10 men of raping her multiple times throughout the past year. Trouble seems to be brewing for the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh after a woman from the CM’s hometown Tawang accused him of gang-rape on February 15. CM Khandu’s late father Dorjee Khandu was the chief minister when the alleged crime took place in the year 2008.
The woman had earlier lodged a complaint with the police in 2015 and her recent complaint is filed with the National Commission for Women (NCW). She alleged that in 2008 the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader lured her to a circuit house on the pretext of a job. She claimed to be sedated before being gang-raped by Khandu, a school teacher Tupten Tashi and a government official Dorjee Wangchu.
Delhi BJP top leader held for rape and molestation
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top leader who unsuccessfully contested the recent Delhi Assembly elections to become a MLA from Shakur Basti has been booked for allegedly molesting and subsequent rape of a woman while she was attached with an institute here, police said today.
According to police, SC Vats, who is chairman of an institute in the Pitampura area of north-west Delhi, has been booked under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 376 (rape) of IPC.
In her complaint lodged at Maurya Enclave police station on January 28, the 33-year-old victim has alleged that Vats raped her on several occasions while she was working at the institute.
She also told police that the BJP leader allegedly used to pass remarks at her and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the sexual assault.
The complainant said she quit her job in May, 2014, due to the continuous assaults and harassment by Vats.
“Police have registered a case against Vats and further investigation is on,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-west), N Gananasambandan.
Vats, who was in Congress for several years, joined BJP in December last year and contested the recently-concluded elections from the Shakur Basti constituency. He was defeated by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendra Jain.
Tripura: BJP leader assaulted and raped
A 45-year-old woman, who is also a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was reportedly assaulted and raped by a CPM cadre at a remote village of Khowai District. Though the complaint was lodged 12 hours before the publishing of this article, the accused is yet to be arrested, said a senior police official.
The victim, is a mother of two and a BJP contestant in the last Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council’s Village Committee elections.
Police sources said that the accused identified as Dumpa Hrankhawl , 26, is a resident of Rangamura village. Dumpa allegedly beat up his victim with a torch on the night of March 25 while she was on her way back home at Budhirai Para under Teliamura Police Station. After assaulting her, Dumpa reportedly raped her.
She lodged a complaint against him at the police station, but withheld the rape incident. However she later accused him of raping her. Meanwhile, the police are investigating the matter.
“She delayed complaining of rape because of shame. However, later, she lodged a rape-case against him. We demand the police to arrest him soon, otherwise, we will go for an agitation,” BJP president Biplab Deb told TNT – The Northeast Today.
