What happened was that on Saturday, the Union minister for road transport and highways said reservation for Marathas or any other community is not the solution to a problem but instead job creation is the need of the hour.
“Let’s us assume the reservation is given. But there are no jobs. Because in banks, the jobs have shrunk because of IT. The government recruitment is frozen. Where are the jobs?” he asked.
To which the Congress president on Monday said, along with a link to an article on Gadkari’s comment: “Excellent question Gadkari Ji. Every Indian is asking the same question.”
“Lack of job creation” has been one of the main plans of offence Rahul has been using against the BJP-led NDA government.
Last month, while speaking during the no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha – yes, the same speech after which he hugged the PM – Rahul blasted the PM for what he said is his poor record on employment.
“China 50, 000 yuvaon ko 24 ghante mein rozgar deta hai, aap(Govt) log 24 ghante mein 400 yuvaon ko rozgaar dete ho (China gives employment to 50,000 young people in the span of 24 hours, here a mere 400 youths get a job in that amount of time),” said the Congress president.
